Baskets

Examples of simple baskets, each made in less than an hour using abo tools.  The left basket is made from red-osier dogwood (Cornus sericea).  The middle basket is made from silky dogwood (Cornus amomum).  The right basket is made from silky dogwood (red colored branchlets) and autumn-olive (Elaeagnus umbellata).

 

Below is a coil basket made from raffia palm (Raphia farinifera).  A bone needle from a moose scapula was used to thread the fibers around the coils.  It is 7 cm tall and 8 cm wide (relatively small).  Side view:
