Foraging in the Field, Brunswick, ME
The class will meet at the end of Water Street in Brunswick, ME, along the south side of the Androscoggin River. From the south, take Interstate 295 north to exit 28 (Brunswick exit). Drive to the end of the long exit ramp and take a left to follow Route 1 north (also called Pleasant Street at this point). Follow this through two sets of traffic signals until you reach another set where Route 1 takes a 90 degree turn to the left and Pleasant Street continues straight ahead and slightly uphill. Follow Route 1 north to the left and in approximately 0.5 miles you will arrive at an obvious fork in the road. Route 1 follows the left-hand fork and drives down under an overpass (Maine Street in Brunswick). The right-hand fork becomes Mill Street and takes you up to a right-turn only onto Maine Street in the village of Brunswick. Follow the right-hand fork along Mill Street to a right-turn onto Maine Street and at a set of traffic signals (it will be a yellow light) take an immediate left onto Mason Street. Then take your first left onto Water Street. Drive to the end of Water Street (through a stop sign) to a large parking area and boat launch near a railroad trestle. We will meet in the Parking lot toward the back (on the river side). If you have any questions or will be late, call my cell phone (207-837-4920). See the map below for assistance (the route is marked with a thick black line, direction of travel noted by yellow arrows, meeting location marked by a red flag).
